I attended Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC and attained my Bachelors in Biblical Studies and Masters in Pastoral Care and Counseling. I have served as a youth pastor, student pastor, and as a lead contemporary pastor. In all of those things, my toil has brought me great joy—there is nothing greater than seeing people turn from death and run towards life in Jesus Christ! My wife, Carlene is a nurse and we have two dogs; we love hiking, road trips, and thrift shopping. I enjoy watching the Hawkeyes play, competing in any game, and joining in fellowship.

Prior to stepping into the role of Kids Ministry Director, I served as a volunteer in Kids Ministry at Calvary for 15 years. Before serving at Calvary, I taught Kindergarten for 8 years in the Yankton School District. Stepping into the role as the Preschool and Daycare Director will allow for me to continue my passion for education and children, but most importantly allow me to show each child how much they are loved by Jesus!

My husband, Adam, and I have 3 kids. We enjoy days at the beach, rock climbing, hiking, bike rides, and family game nights.

  • Mike Clark - Media  / Worship Coordinator

I was raised most of my life in Vermillion, SD, where I attended a very small country church. That’s where I started playing music and leading worship at church and continued to lead worship at college as part of CSF. After College, I joined the US Army and travelled all around the country until I left in 2011. I’ve always been a creative person and a few years ago, I was able to put my knowledge of video editing and graphic design to use when I started a podcasting network. I am very excited to be able to use those same gifts that God has given me, to help grow the church and grow God’s Kingdom! I am a HUGE Denver Broncos fan and enjoy watching games and attending the occasional game when I can. Oh, and I love my wife and kids, too!

  • Amy Horning - Office Manager

I grew up in northern Minnesota, then attended University of Northwestern in St. Paul, MN where I studied Math Education.  It was there I met my husband Erik, who grew up in Freeman, SD.  After many years in the Twin Cities, a job change for Erik led us to Yankton and Calvary.  Erik and I have 3 children, and our family life revolves around our kids’ school activities and golf.  I began my career as a teacher, left that to be a stay-at-home mom, went back to teaching, and then God placed this job of Church Office Manager before me.  Each of these roles has kept me on my toes and taught me to be ready for anything!  I love strong, black coffee, a good book, and MN sports teams.
